How to use ProjectWise InterPlot Server Search

To search for one or more sheets (plots), specify a keyword or a set of keywords, and ProjectWise InterPlot Server will search its database to find sheets that match the specified keywords.  Keywords may be case sensitive depending on the database system.

Type the keyword or select the keyword from the drop-down list inside the applicable attribute field and click the Search button.  To narrow the search, use keywords in more than one attribute field and click the Search button.  To clear out all keywords, and start over, click the Reset button.

The search attributes are determined during archive setup or creation.  Search attributes are selected from a list of attributes on the Plot Set Attributes dialog box, or the Sheet Attributes dialog box. You can also create new search attributes from the Attribute Properties dialog box.

Example:  ArchiveA contains the following Plot Sets and Sheet Names.

Plot Set Names Sheet Names
Floor1 foyer, kitchen, den
Floor2 storage, bedroom, bathroom
Floor3 bedroom, bathroom, attic

To search for all sheets contained in the Plot Set Floor1, type Floor1 into the Plot Set Name attribute field and click the Search button.

To search for the sheet name bedroom contained in the plot set Floor3, type Floor3 into the Plot Set Name attribute field, type bedroom into the Sheet Name attribute field, and then click the Search button.

    Wildcard (%) Matching

Use the % character as the wildcard in key-in attribute fields.  The % character matches zero or more characters.  For example, the string "ELEC%" matches any string that begins with the characters ELEC.  The string "%ELEC" matches any string that ends with the characters ELEC, and the string "%ELEC%" matches any string containing the characters ELEC.

Example:  ArchiveB contains the following Plot Set and Sheet Names.

Plot Set Names Sheet Names
Tenn I65, I40, hwy31East, hwy31West, BrileyPkwy, Road, RoadA

If you type in "I%" for the Sheet Name, the result would be:  I65   I40

If you type in "%31%" for the Sheet Name, the result would be: hwy31East   hwy31West

If you type in "%Pkwy" for the Sheet Name, the result would be:   BrileyPkwy

If you type in "Road" for the Sheet Name, the result would be:   Road

    Document Pool

With ProjectWise InterPlot Server installed, a Document Pool is a collection of digital plots (DPR files). If ProjectWise InterPlot Server is installed on ProjectWise Publishing Server's Web Server, the Document Pool can consist of ProjectWise InterPlot data types (IPARMs, Plot Set files), DGN, and DWG files. Documents from the Document Pool can be used for design compare.

To add DPR files to the Document Pool (ProjectWise InterPlot Server)

1. From the "Plot Set Table of Contents" page or the "Archive Results" page, click the check box next to the thumbnail.

2. Click the "Add to Document Pool" icon (+) next to the check box to add the document(s) to the document pool.

To add DGN, DWG, IPS, or IPARM files to the Document Pool (ProjectWise InterPlot Server with ProjectWise Publishing Server installed)

1. From the ProjectWise InterPlot Server page, click the "Publisher" tab.

2. From the "ProjectWise Publishing Server Directory Indexing" Page, select the Published Directory.

3. Select the document(s) by clicking the check box next to the file name.

4. Click the "Add to Document Pool" icon (+) next to the check box.

To remove documents from a Document Pool

1. From the ProjectWise InterPlot Server page, click the "Document Pool" tab.

2. Click the check box next to the thumbnail to select the document.

3. Click the "Remove from Document Pool" icon (-) next to the document name.

Displaying the Document Pool

To view the contents of the document pool, click the "Document Pool" tab.

Printing Documents in the Document Pool

1. From the ProjectWise InterPlot Server page, click the "Document Pool" tab.

2. To select a document, click the check box next to the thumbnail.

3. To add the document to the Print Pool, click "Print Pool".

4. To print all the documents in the Print Pool, click Print. (To delete, move, or sort the documents in the Print Pool, right-click a document to invoke the context-menu.)

    Design Compare

Design Compare allows you to see the changed, unchanged, added, and deleted graphics between two renditions or two models. With ProjectWise InterPlot Server installed, you can compare two renditions (digital plots). With ProjectWise InterPlot Server and ProjectWise Publishing Server installed on the same machine, in addition to renditions, you can compare two models (DGN/DWG files). For example, you can compare two renditions (dpr files, IPARM files, Plot Set files), two DGN files, or two DWG files.

Comparing milestones in a project can provide useful information, also, comparing the current state of the design and some previous version can be very useful.

To compare two renditions (digital plots) or two models (DGN files)

1. Add the renditions or models to the Document Pool.

2. Select the "Document Pool" tab.

3. Select two renditions, two DGN files, or two DWG files you want to compare.

4. Click the "Design Compare" icon or the "Design Compare" link.

Note: To compare two files be sure that the "Design Compare Support" option is checked in Archive Explorer when creating archives. Also, you cannot compare an old DPR file (those produced by previous versions of Digital InterPlot or Digital Print Room) with a new DPR file, two old DPR files, or DPR files that were created before the "Design Compare Support" option was checked inside Archive Explorer.

    Redlining

Note:  To Redline DPR files, ProjectWise Publishing Server must be installed on ProjectWise InterPlot Server's Web Server. To Redline ProjectWise InterPlot formats (IPARMs, Plot Set files, DPR files) and models (DGN, DWG), ProjectWise Publishing Server and ProjectWise InterPlot Server must be installed on the same machine as ProjectWise InterPlot Server's Web Server.

ProjectWise Publishing Server's redlining feature allows you to view a drawing and mark it up with comments or changes. Once the changes and comments are made, you can save (post) them on a ProjectWise InterPlot Server to make them accessible to other users. A senior drafter or engineer usually marks up the drawing and posts the redline file so that a draftsman can view the redlines and make the necessary changes.
